Thename Haskap comes from the Ainu word "Hashikap", which means "somethingthat grows in abundance on a branch."
It has small, blue-purple fruits, characterized by the fact that one fruitgrows from two flowers.
Itgrows wild in cold regions like eastern Russia and Canada, and in Japan, itmainly grows in Hokkaido.
It is believed that migratory birds from Siberia carried the seeds to Hokkaido.
